Getting Practical: How AI Is Enabling Knowledge Workers
Artificial intelligence (AI) is coming of age, and as it matures, one benefit is clear: Knowledge workers, those whose roles require both experience and the ability to collect and analyze data needed for decision making and action, are gaining access to tools that can dramatically improve their performance.
The promise of AI, which encompasses everything from robotics and Internet of Things to machine learning and natural language processing, is a world of fully automated, end-to-end analysis and decision making; of freeing humans from routine tasks and enabling the augmentation of human ingenuity.
But practically speaking, today, the primary focus is on equipping knowledge workers with the information and tools they need to do their jobs faster and more efficiently. This idea is supported by a recent Forbes Insights survey, which found that 79% of executives agree that AI is already driving transformative improvement in workflows and tools for knowledge workers.
