Some content services are already leveraging AI to “read” the text on a page to index and store it. The apps can “learn” to recognize the necessary text to capture metadata needed to logically store a document. The key here is you still have to train it. The next step should developing content types whose assigned characteristics make the content type readily identifiable and automate the capture of the necessary metadata without user intervention.

Web administrators and IT support staff also needed easy ways to hand off routine chores, like webpage maintenance, to nontechnical users, which content management made easier.
Over the years, aspects of content management have evolved, including types of content and required skills, relevant tools and storage.
