While this review is a bit behind the times (it is from August of last year) much of the content is relevant and accurate even with Docuware v7.7 now out. The first paragraph defining the basic features of a good DMS as well as all of the additional functionality that Docuware provides are all valid as well.

I think that the major point that is missed here is integration. DMS is not as significantly valuable by itself. Yes, digitization with the stable and protected environment it provides is certainly peace of mind from a retention and probably compliance basis. But it should not stand in a vacuum.

The odds are pretty good that content is connected in some way to another system in your world. Linking those two things together is where the real power is. Docuware can do that in a variety of ways at both the application and data out of the box. There is also a growing set of “No Code/Low Code” API level tools that will provide a nearly unlimited ability for Docuware systems to interact with hundreds of other applications.
