That naturally leads to overlap and confusion. AI and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprisersproject.com\/article\/2019\/7\/machine-learning-explained-plain-english\">machine learning<\/a>\u00a0are mentioned together so often that some people \u2013 non-technical folks especially \u2013 might think they\u2019re one and the same. They\u2019re\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprisersproject.com\/article\/2019\/3\/ai-vs-machine-learning-what-s-difference\">related but not actually interchangeable terms<\/a>: Machine learning is a subset, or a specific discipline, of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a relatively straightforward example. Start adding other terms and technologies into the mix \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprisersproject.com\/article\/2019\/7\/deep-learning-explained-plain-english\">deep learning<\/a>&nbsp;is yet another subset of machine learning, for instance \u2013 and the opportunities abound for further misconceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cyberconservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/black-320985__340.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31819\" width=\"286\" height=\"185\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Deciphering the differences between terms and technologies takes a twist with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/enterprisersproject.com\/article\/2019\/5\/rpa-robotic-process-automation-how-explain\">robotic process automation (<strong>RPA<\/strong>)<\/a>\u00a0and AI. We\u2019re going to break it down so you can explain it &#8211; even to non-technical audiences.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, there\u2019s some disagreement on the basic relationship between the two. While just about everyone agrees that machine learning is an AI discipline, that same consensus doesn\u2019t exist with <strong>RPA<\/strong> and AI.
