Even now, startups and major corporations are providing services which help businesses track their staff, and in the process their improvements to efficiency will force other businesses to follow suit, or risk falling behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pixabay.com\/photo\/2015\/06\/25\/17\/21\/smart-watch-821557_960_720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"165\"\/><figcaption>pixabay.com<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, connecting workers to <strong>IoT<\/strong>-based platforms and clouds isn&#8217;t really about keeping tabs on them like some kind of workplace Big Brother. As solutions from the likes of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oracle.com\/internet-of-things\/iot-connected-worker-cloud.html\" target=\"_blank\">Oracle<\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.accenture.com\/gb-en\/service-connected-industrial-workforce\" target=\"_blank\">Accenture<\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.co.uk\/content\/www\/uk\/en\/connected-worker\/overview.html\" target=\"_blank\">Intel<\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/2018\/04\/safeguarding-employees-with-sap-connected-worker-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\">SAP<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.romware.io\/\" target=\"_blank\">Romware<\/a>&nbsp;all show, safety and security are the primary goals of most smart devices used to monitor employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, Oracle&#8217;s <strong>IoT<\/strong> Connected Worker Cloud service lets companies monitor the locations of their employees in hazardous environments, alerting and notifying workers whenever they approach particular dangers or hazards, as well as controlling access to restricted and potentially dangerous areas. Likewise, Intel produces&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/dam\/www\/public\/us\/en\/documents\/solution-briefs\/honeywell-industrial-wearables-solution.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">a range of wearable devices<\/a>&nbsp;which have been used by fire and rescue services to track where exactly firefighters are in a building or environment, so that they can easily be assisted if in danger or redeployed to different areas.
