The first thing to remember is you cannot (or at least should not) have one without the other. In other words, until you understand and manage a process it is futile to attempt to automate it. For example, if you want to loss weight wouldn’t you need to understand and measure what you are consuming before you can develop a strategy to reduce your weight. Business Process Management <\/strong>and the subsequent Automation are no different. Automating what is not fully understood will only result in chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sounds basic enough, though a\u00a0real-world<\/em>\u00a0business process can be bafflingly complex and convolute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business process automation<\/strong> (BPA<\/strong>), also known as digital transformation or business automation, is the technology-enabled automation of\u00a0business processes<\/a>. BPA<\/strong> comprises the integration of applications, restructuring labor resources and incorporating software applications into the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a study by\u00a0Statista<\/a>, the global business process automation market value is projected to increase from\u00a0$9.7 billion in 2019 to $12.7 billion in 2021<\/strong>. As more organizations implement BPA<\/strong> software to streamline their business processes, it\u2019s paramount to examine your business and see if and where it can benefit you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s examine an example of business process automation software in action. Digitizing a paper form and having the electronic version automatically submitted to the correct recipient would be a good example. This process could be implemented in various departments, and is triggered by a specific event (such as filing an expense report for reimbursement).
