There is some basic tagging system for if they read this, then read that. Most of them are human-powered. They don&#8217;t have a Netflix or a Spotify type algorithm that&#8217;s actually learning preferences, knows the last 15 articles someone read, and how far along he got into them. It&#8217;s not pulling any other kind of behavioral intent data. Most aren&#8217;t doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pixabay.com\/photo\/2018\/03\/22\/02\/37\/email-3249062__340.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"278\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Therein lies potential, however it\u2019s something marketers and customer experience professionals remain hopeful about: 54% of them told CMSWire researchers in the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www-cmswire.simplermedia.com\/cw-cp-smg-dcx-rpt-2021-cx.html\" target=\"_blank\">State of Digital Customer Experience 2021 report<\/a>\u00a0they see AI having significant impacts on digital customer experience over the next two to five years. And most of them see \u201cgaining actionable customer insights\u201d (27%) as the area where they see the most potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roetzer said it is hard to find really good solutions to do this out-of-the-box. Noz Urbina of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/urbinaconsulting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Urbina Consulting<\/a>&nbsp;agreed, calling the technology nascent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bigger question for marketers beyond what kind of tools are out there is do we have the data to support the use case, according to Roetzer. And do we have a strong foundation of metadata, <strong>content <\/strong>tagging and <strong>content<\/strong> taxonomies, according to Urbina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou need enough data, for one,\u201d Roetzer said. \u201cSometimes the problem is smaller data, not necessarily the cost. It&#8217;s do you have enough data to make it worthwhile to try and use a machine learning algorithm to do this better than a human would?
