{"id":46525,"date":"2022-03-08T03:16:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T08:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cybercon1.com\/?p=46525"},"modified":"2022-03-08T03:16:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T08:16:00","slug":"senate-passes-major-cybersecurity-legislation-to-force-reporting-of-cyberattacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cyberconservices.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/08\/senate-passes-major-cybersecurity-legislation-to-force-reporting-of-cyberattacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate passes major cybersecurity legislation to force reporting of cyberattacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/profiles\/geneva-sands\">Geneva Sands<\/a> &#8211; The Senate on Tuesday passed major cybersecurity legation, moving one step closer toward forcing critical infrastructure companies to report cyberattacks and <strong>ransomware<\/strong> payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The passage comes as federal officials have\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/02\/26\/politics\/ukraine-malware-warning-cybersecurity-fbi-cisa\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">repeatedly warned<\/a>\u00a0of the potential for Russian cyberattacks against the United States amid the escalating conflict in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislation, which still has to pass in the House, would require critical infrastructure owners and civilian federal agencies to report to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency within 72 hours if they experience a substantial cyberattack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would also require critical infrastructure companies to report<strong> ransomware<\/strong> payments to the federal government within 24 hours. As our nation continues to support Ukraine, we must ready ourselves for retaliatory cyber-attacks from the Russian government,&#8221; Democratic Sen.
